Miriam Fried (b. 1946) is an Israeli violinist and music educator, professor at the New England Conservatory Of Music. She was born in Romania and moved to Israel at the age of two. Miriam studied violin with Lorand Fenyves in Geneva, Josef Gingold at the Indiana University, and Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School. She won the Paganini Competition in Genoa (1968) and the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Brussels (1971). Miriam Fried is the mother of pianist Jonathan Biss.
