Musician / Composer / Producer of World, Folk and Jazz
A.k.a. Michel M'Ba
Mishko is among the cream of French bassist, but also a pianist, composer & producer. Born in 1962 in France, he studied western classical music at Toulouse and focused later on jazz and rock. In 1990, he forms a jazz trio A3 with Yvo Abadi (drums) and Pierre-Michel Sivadier (piano). They compose an album "Les Fous Du Large". As a very demanded bass player who really makes his instrument sing, he is touring in USA, Europe and Asia with various bands of different musical styles for many years, having worked with renowned artists such as Raul De Souza, Lucky Ali, Ray Charles, Barbara Hendricks or Didier Lockwood. In 1998, he produces, arranges and composes a part of CD "Les Voix De La Liberté", commemorating the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in partnership with UNESCO, Canal+ and the French department of Reunion Island. Since 1999, he is a part of the Reunion Island band Ziskakan. After the Kora Awards (best musical group of East Africa) in 1997, the band gets the Césaire de la Musique 2007. At the same time, Mishko studies the Indian classical music with the sarod player Debi Prasad Gosh, in Puducherry and works on sound and visual installations with the artist Colette Pounia-Abadie. Two Pondicherry based bands, 3 Raags and Jalshagar are devoted to the musical research. The both explore the links between Western (jazz, classical and contemporary) and Indian music (hindoustani and carnatic), one focal point in the artistic purpose of Mishko M’ba.
