Monkeypox's debut, "Hey! That's My Wife..." is a raw, garage rock oriented album that favors tight hooks and melodies instead of polished studio production. Many tracks call to mind the British Invasion scene of the 1960's that spawned bands such as The Kinks, The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. However, the band's sound finds room to include references to Can, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Traffic and Bob Marley. The album is a refreshing departure from the seemingly endless onslaught of pre-packaged pop stars with no talent and hollow rock bands with no soul. It was produced by Johnson Jackson & Junior Bevel and was recorded during the period of mid February-late March 2005.
