Band,
Jazz and Rock
Formed in 2006 as a "string quartet plus drums", Moraine plays an eclectic mix of art rock, progressive jazz, and "radically" reworked Chinese music. They were signed to Moonjune Records who released their first album, "Manifest Density" in 2009. That album garnered over 100 reviews in more than 20 countries and an invitation to open NEARfest in 2010. With the departure of cellist Ruth Davidson after the first album, the band added woodwind player Jim DeJoie. The NEARfest performance formed the basis of their second album, which featured their second drummer, Stephen Cavit. Their third album, "Groundswell" (2014), saw them back in the studio, this time with Tom Zgonc on drums.
