A.k.a. Moss " Mossman " Raxlen Moss Man Moss Raxlen
Mossman began collecting records, messing around in recording studios and spinning records in clubs in Montreal during the mid 90's. In '97, he produced his first album, "Message In The Dub" & started a recording studio in downtown. It lasted around 6 years & five records were recorded there. In 2001, Moss decided it was time to start yet another new project, and began his own label " Dispensation ". With the release of his second album just a few months before 9/11 soon tinged with irony, " Mossman Vs. The World Bank ", was still received with international acclaim from fans and critics alike. After opening for a number of international artists at the Montreal Jazz Fest he started to d.j. regularly at events in N.Y.C. and Toronto. 2002 saw Raxlen working again with The Montreal Jazz Festival and legendary guitarist Lynn Taitt getting him 4 gigs at Jazz fest., including 4 gigs with Moss' own group and booking all the rest for the " Reggae / Dub " stage at the festival that year and soon off he went to Europe and North America for gigs and various music festivals. The following year he released "Mossman vs. Tsunami" which got nominated for a number of music awards in Canada and again received with international acclaim. In 2005 Moss released ( his first ) album "Message in the Dub" as well as producing Mossman Meets Vander" Montreal Dub Sound System " and began working with Lynn Taitt in his backyard studio on a Rocksteady, Ska and Reggae album. Moss took the time to travel to Jamaica twice in 2005 and now spends at least one month of every year there. As of 2007 most of his work was on " Rocksteady : The Roots Of Reggae " a film / album project that he co-created and has received world wide acclaim. This project has cemented his reputation in the world of Jamaican music and to all the legends he was blessed to work with and continues to work for. The past few years he's been d.j.ing and screening the film all over the world and is doing the last bit of promotion for that project as well as starting to work on and promo a new documentary film and album project on the true " King Of Rocksteady " Nearlin " Lynn " Taitt, a unsung hero of Reggae and Caribbean music.
