There’s a lot of jabber about how you should “embrace your potential”, but there’s something that takes much more maturity, discernment and personal insight and that is knowing (and admitting) what you’re NOT good at. Too many people spend far too much time doing things they’ve no business doing when they’ve neither the aptitude nor the skills necessary to successfully engage in such activities. Recognizing one’s limitations can be invaluable in ensuring you don’t waste precious time on things that would be better suited to someone with more qualifications. Life isn’t just one big happy birthday party where all the kiddies get to take turns putting the tail on the donkey. Real life means that you have to put that donkey to work for you and you’d better know what you’re doing with it or you won’t get a donkey at all.
