Single US 1980 on Magic Records label
Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B/Soul (Disco)
Same track on both sides. Catalogue # from the dead wax, none printed on label. 500 copies pressed. The intro uses a break from Super Sporm by Captain Sky, while the rest is taken from Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll pt.2 by Vaughan Mason & The Crew. Mr. Magic sold out all 500 copies, but instead of repressing the 45, Mr. Magic heeded the advice of a Bridgeport promoter who warned him that he might get sued by Brunswick Records for his wholesale theft of Vaughn Mason’s current hit. So for the 12" release, he re-recorded the track with his childhood friends in the Positive Choice Band. This is one of the first rap songs to feature sampling.
