She always dreamed of singing, Lorraine’s father died when she was just two years old the start of a hard journey that would take her across the world in an exiting career. By the age of seven she was learning violin clarinet and saxophone and sang in any and every choir, grounding her in the complex art of harmony singing.At the age of 19 she formed a band called Foxy they became a hugely successful band and toured the world extensively. She worked for the American and British Armed Forces all over the world singing 6 nights a week and each show would last 4 x 45 minutes and 6 x 45 on a weekend as she was the only singer in the band. This was gruelling but without a shadow of a doubt developed her singing voice. After four long years touring, Lorraine decided it was time to concentrate on her original music. In 1996 she met her partner Stuart Emerson. They formed a band who went on to support Status Quo among others. They started to develop their writing skills with the help of platinum selling producer Pip Williams. At that time they were managed by Dave Walker at Handle Management. The biggest breakthrough came when Dan Priest from Parkgate Studios played one of their demo tapes to Jim Steinman writer and producer of Bat Out Of Hell. He heard the tape and called them from New York telling Lorraine she was the best female rock vocalist he had ever heard and the songs were fantastic. They flew out to New York where they signed a management deal with Steinman’s company Arrested Development. They decided to sell up everything and move to America. While they were in Los Angeles writing songs and gaining studio experience, they were invited to Ocean Way Recording Studios to meet the people recording Bat Out Of Hell 2. When they arrived the band were recording the track I would do anything for love. Jim asked Lorraine could she help them out and demo the female lead vocal for them. She did the song twice and left the studio not thinking anything of it. Six months later, Meat Loaf called her saying they had tried several other female vocalists but none of them could capture what she had done on the demo his words were “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. That was that. The song went on to be Meat Loafs only number one to this day. It reached number 1 in 38 country’s all over the world and was the biggest selling single of 1993 The song went on to win a Grammy for best rock vocal performance.. Lorraine and Meat were added to the Guinness book of hit singles. Whilst in LA Jim managed to secure a recording contract for Lorraine and Stu with MCA Recording started in Power Station New York with legendary producer Bernard Edwards, Jim Steinman was executive producer. They completed just 50% of the album working with some of the finest musicians Micky Curry, Phillipe Saisse, Eddie Martinez Hugh to name but a few. While they were taking a break from recording, Meat Loaf asked the pair if they would do backing vocals on Bat out of hell 2 as they loved their style. They flew back to LA where they did vocals on Life Is A Lemon, Everything louder than everything else and Objects in the rear view mirror. They stayed in LA getting ready to finish off their debut album. Bat Out Of Hell 2 was released Reports it had gone over 2 million over budget raggedly caused the 2 A and R men who signed Meat Loaf and Lorraine and Stu to be fired. As is customary any signed acts were dropped by MCA. Lorraine and Stu had no choice but to return to the UK with no album and no money. ‘Anything for Love’ was number one worldwide with a model Dana Patrick lip syncing to Lorraine’s voice in the video. After following other avenues with management and record companies, Lorraine’s management Sanctuary Music Group managed by Rod Smallwood, got several deals for Lorraine. Chrysalis Polydor and Hansa in Germany.Lorraine again went out to the USA and spent 2 months recording with Andy Taylor of Duran Duran. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned and Lorraine was forced to go back to the place she started. Since being back in the UK Lorraine has toured with her own band, built a major recording studio where she has recorded with a list of major recording artists including Bonnie Tyler with whom she recorded a duet written by Stu ‘Stand By You’ on her album Celebrate.Lorraine recently appeared on the TV show The Most annoying Pop Songs You Love To Hate Anything for love was featured.
