Punk / rock band from Brazil. Current lineup: Alexandre (vocals), Stenio (guitar), Flavio (guitar), Marcel Lobisomen (drums) and Daniel Ete (bass). MUZZARELAS are a band from Campinas, a large city in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, that have been around since 1991. Their start can be summed up as a bunch of friends who were into heavy music in general, from punk to thrash metal and everything in between, who got together just to have some fun and play some Ramones songs with a totally tongue in cheek attitude. Word soon spread about the intensity of their live act and it wasn’t long before they had crafted their own sound and had a bunch of songs on a demo tape and started opening concerts for bands like Ratos de Porão, Marky Ramone, Fugazi, Sick of It All, among many others. The first record deal soon followed and resulted in their 1995 debut, ‘Jumentor’, produced by Ratos de Porão’s singer, João Gordo. 27 years and seven albums later, they have played all over Brazil and in Argentina and had their albums released in Europe and Japan, as well as participated in compilations in several different countries. A brand new album is in the works and should be released in the near future.
