Singer / Producer of Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. Nuwd Nym Rob Da Verb
Myn Dwun (pronounced Mind One) is an emcee, singer, and producer currently residing in Muskegon, MI. He has released several albums himself, with one released on Emben Digital (a subsidiary of Milled Pavement Records), and has been on various compilations, including Offbeats 2.1, which was a vinyl only compilation released by German label Subversiv Rec. Acclaimed as a style chameleon and sound shifter, self-described as a one man compilation, variety is his poison of choice. Born in Toledo, OH in 1980, violin became his introduction to music through his grandfather, who hand crafted them. First getting a taste of hip hop in 1986, he began freestyling in neighborhood ciphers in 1988. Influenced by artists such as Ultramagnetic MCs, Freestyle Fellowship, Afrika Bambaataa, Digital Underground, Parliament/Funkadelic, 2 Live Crew, Outkast, and The Pharcyde, Mynd has always taken a different path than most. With a wide variety of subject matter, it’s impossible to know what’s coming next. After 8 years of freestyling, 1996 ushered in the beginning of another aspect in his love of hip hop… composition. As varied as his vocal excursions, Myn Dwun has ventured from hip hop to ballads, classical, ambient, drum and bass, neo soul, electro-funk, metal, and there’s no telling what else. Viewing the voice as another instrument in the mix, with sound design under the belt and a vast musical history enhanced by the Suzuki method of playing by ear, Mynd aims to not make two songs that sound alike and has done pretty well. Adding a Recording Arts degree to the repertoire in 2002, he further advanced his aural craft. Mynd is currently working on a few albums, including projects by (pronounced George) and American Mic Terrorists, solo albums including Prelude In “M” EP, The “M” Word LP, and the third album in the Silenced Of Words instrumental series.
