Mystic Davis

JM

Multiple award-winning Jamaican dancer and Dancehall artist, who has become noted for her musical talents as well as her dancing The Portland-born beauty developed a love for the performing arts from a very young age; dancing ballet for Titchfield High School Ballet Troupe at only ears old. She later began dancing to Dancehall music during her days at Wolmer’s Girls School & quickly developed into one of Jamaica’s best dancers. Her flexible and fast paced dance routines earned her spots in several Dancehall music videos; featuring in Beenie Man’s “Whine Gyal,” Tifa’s “Bottom Of The Barrel,” and more recently Vybz Kartel’s “Go Go Wine” video that was released in June. She also appeared in videos for renowned international acts such as Gnarls Barkley’s “Goin On” and Sean Kingston & Nicki Minaj’s popular hit “Letting Go.” Such a strong resume at a young age has labeled Mystic as one of Jamaica’s hottest commodities & has prompted her to share her talents with her locals. Mystic has choreographed various groups and events during her time & started her “OptiMystic” Dance classes earlier this year to help pass on her skills to persons young and old, and also help them keep in shape. Despite dancing being her main love, Mystic always had one eye on becoming a musician. Daughter of veteran Reggae songstress Joy White, Mystic began embarking on her journey to become a well-recognized Dancehall artist; releasing her debut single in 2010 entitled “Wine Up.” She also collaborated with Macka Diamond and other popular female dancers for the single “Too Much Bull,” which received good amounts of airplay locally and internationally, particularly Canada. Mystic’s big break as an artiste came when she collaborated with close friend and popular Dancehall artist Leftside for the popular “Want Yuh Body” remix; becoming one of 2010's best songs. Mystic has also scored musically while releasing singles such as the Tony Kelly-produced "You and I." Fast forward to 2011 & Mystic has continued her quest to master both realms of the performing arts; dropping “Wine Up Part 2” on the Bed Squeek Riddim in April. Her most recent release was her track, “Best Thing” on LMR Productions’ Chain Reaction Riddim. She has landed her most notable singing effort to date after joining forces with notable hit making group Major Lazer for “Bubble Butt,” which features on Major Lazer’s new album, Free The Universe. The finished track was sent to her on her birthday, featuring the additions of prominent singer Bruno Mars and Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB) rapper Tyga. “I met Diplo (Major Lazer) two years ago, at Geejam with Timberlee and we kind of hit it off from there,” Mystic explained during an IRIE FM interview. “He liked my sound and we decided to record a couple things at first; samples. Last year, he sent me a Riddim and I wrote to it, recorded the track and sent it back and then, he had sent it back to me and I heard Tyga on the track and found out that the chorus was done by Bruno Mars.” The song was released in mid-April and gained exposure thanks to American rapper 2 Chainz, who played the song at Coachella to mass approval. The prominent dancer/choreographer believes “Bubble Butt” could be the breakthrough hit she has been praying for and plans to release a video for the single in the near future. With the combination of swift moves, lyrical ingenuity and sex appeal, Mystic Davis appears to have the goods to succeed within the Dancehall music industry.
