Band,
Musician of Rock and Jazz
Mythopoeic Mind is the brainchild of Steinar Børve, the saxophone player of the Norwegian avant-rock band Panzerpappa. It is a recording project driven by a long-term desire to venture into the musical landscape of symphonic rock. Its roots can be traced back to 1997 when Steinar put music to poems and scenes from the fantasy “bible” The Lord of the Rings in a piece named Songs from the Red Book of Westmarch. The music was performed at the 2nd Nordic Tolkien festival with the good help of an enthusiastic ensemble, including Trond Gjellum on drums (A year later they formed Panzerpappa together with Jørgen Skjulstad and Knut Tore Abrahamsen). Although very well received, the music was never recorded or played live again. In recent years, Steinar has accumulated new, musical ideas which do not fit into the framework of Panzerpappa. Inspired by a newfound creative boost in Norwegian progressive rock, Steinar decided in 2016 to try to make an album with music in the symphonic rock/cantebury vein. By the autumn of 2017, 2 albums worth of demos had been made, combining completely new musical ideas with older songs, including excerpts from the original 1997 piece. Very soon, Steinar had recruited talented musicians (to be announced later) to contribute to the first album, planned for release in the autumn of 2018. Recording is to commence in January 2018.
