Album NZ 1988 on Flying Nun Records label
Alternative (Punk, Indie Rock)
The first pressing of this release was one of the first Flying Nun vinyls made overseas after the NZ EMI record pressing plant was shut down. Unfortunately the quality of the pressing was bad- quiet and tinny sounding. Considering the high quality of the digital master- this was a disaster. Shortly after, Flying Nun switched to a different overseas pressing plant- with much improved results, however it was too late for the first run of Mud Babies. Later Flying Nun reissued Mud Babies on vinyl pressed at the new plant- with new disc cutting and excellent sound quality. Both these releases are under the same catalog number FN128. To tell them apart- The first pressing features a half black/ half yellow centre label on both sides of the record, while the better sounding reissue has the more standard pink Flying Nun centre label on side one, and yellow label on side two.
