A.k.a. Nacionālo Bruņoto spēku orķestris
Nacionālo Bruņoto spēku Štaba orķestris or Nacionālo Bruņoto spēku orķestris (NBS orķestris too) literally "National Armed Forces Band" is the main Military Band of the Republic of Latvia. It traces its roots in December of 1991 when a group of musicians started to schedule concerts in their spare time and receiving for that a formal appreciation by the Minister of the Culture of the Republic of Latvia, Raimonds Pauls. On January 3rd of 1992 that - also in order to substitute the old Band of the Baltic Military District (Baltijas kara apgabala štāba pūtēju orķestris) that was a Military Band of the U.S.S.R. - The Band began to work officially as the Band of the Latvian National Armed Forces. Its first CD "Latvijas Republikas Nacionālo bruņoto spēku Ceremoniju mūzika" has been relased on February 15th of 1999; the second CD "Impresijas" has been relased in 2001 and the third, and currently last, CD "Dziesma Saule" has been relased on June 2007. The Band of the Latvian National Armed Forces participate to many International Military Festivals in many Countries such as Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
