Electronic, Spoken Word and Pop
Naomi Elizabeth A modern day philosopher. Q: Are you a gross, retarded, and terrible person? A: No, I am a mild-mannered and thoughtful adult who happens to deal with incendiary subject matter. Q: Why do you have this unacceptable style? A: I am trying to reflect that the times we live in have changed since the 80s and 90s. It frustrates me that music on the whole has not changed, that musicians don't seem to take newer realities into account. Different subject matter needs to be covered. I am trying to express the simultaneous aggression and conformity I see in society, not as a proponent or a detractor. Just to show that it is there. Q: Do you promote sexist stereotypes of women? A: It isn't about that. The overt sexuality is only used as an example of the degree to which civilization is evolving into a raw and elemental state. It can be frightening but it can also be amazing. Q: Don't you have any fears, modesty, or social anxiety? A: Yes I have all those things! It does hurt my feelings every once in a while when people take lame shots at me. But I have the conviction that what I'm working on is in an inexplicable sense, "right". So I have to do it anyway. Q: How can you expect to be taken seriously when what you are creating is, in many ways, trash? A: That's a good question.
