Nashenas (Pashto/Dari: ناشناس), born Sadiq Fitrat Habibi in 1935 in Kandahar is one of the most famous and oldest surviving Pashtun musicians from Afghanistan. He found success in the late 1950s and which continues to this day. In recent decades, he has become especially popular with the Afghan diaspora in both Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the West. He has recorded vocals in Dari, Pashto and occasionally Urdu. The majority of his original recordings were purported to have been destroyed in both the Soviet war and then the later Taliban era.
