Band, CA
Musician of Dance and Alternative
From Sainte-Julie, a little town near Montreal in Canada, Maryse (piano/keyboards) and Daniel (drums) gave birth to Néodyme in 2006, having in mind an instrumental music studio project. In November 2007, Alexandre (guitars) added its melodic strength and passion to create the first album, Ensemble Derrière la Lune (Together Behind the Moon). During its mastering process, Mathieu (bass) joined the trio, grounding its members to complete the quartet still active today. Néodyme as a studio project was no more: it is a band playing its progressive music live. Néodyme is an instrumental family of passionate musicians, a true friendship with music constantly expanding. A place where piano, keyboards and guitars share melodies while drums and bass build the rhythm section. Percussions, sound effects and a bit of woodwind instruments customize its sound. The second album La Tour (The Tower) was successfully played live during the CD launching in Montreal in August 2010. Since then, the band kept improving their production, composition and performance skills by hard and dedicated work. Their third album Le Guetteur (The Watchman) was released in November 2012 and has been greatly appreciated. Everything needed for great music is there: inspiration and performance with an increasing complicity within its band mates. In May 2014, the band played live at the 10th Terra Incognita convention in Quebec City. A memorable hour and a half show where two new pieces were introduced along with plenty others from their previous albums. The response has been terrific. In spring 2015, Néodyme released its most mature work to date, La Signature du Temps (The Time Signature). Its music is an evolving exploration of genres, even including a song with vocals. Band’s performance is at its best and Néodyme’s signature is heard more than ever! Overall, the music is filled with changes, complexity, groove and diversity. Dark pieces that somehow manage to let the light shine. Going through many emotions, there is no limit, no frontier and everything can find its place. Some metal moments with a classical vibe, latin grooves with a jazz swing, even funk can share some space with ambiance. Textures and moods are all over the place!
