New wave is a collective of Dutch hip-hop artists from various cities in the Netherlands who are signed to TopNotch. The members of the group are Ronnie Flex, Jonna Fraser, Lil' Kleine, Bokoesam, Idaly, Lijpe, SFB, Frenna, Jandro, KM, D-Double, Ares, Afriki, Cartiez, Def Major, Ramiks, Monsif, Spanker, Krankjoram, Jack $hirak and Garrincha. The idea behind the collective stems from TopNotch label boss Kees de Koning who had invited the 20 members of the group to the Dutch island Schiermonnikoog, where they recorded their self-titled debut album, released in 2015. The lead single off the album by Ronnie Flex and Lil' Kleine " Drank & drugs" saw the most success which spent a considerable amount of time in the pole position of the Dutch charts. With more than 60 million streams their debut album was the most streamed Dutch album on Spotify of that year. Accumulating over 80 million views on YouTube as well. In January 2016 the group were awarded the Dutch Popprijs.
