Nguyen Thien Dao was born in Hanoi, Vietnam (by that time French Indochina), in 1940. He arrived in France in 1953, entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1963, from 1967 he studied with Olivier Messiaen. He died in Paris, France, in 2015.
