Born in Deltona, Florida with a highly gifted ear, Nick began formal piano lessons at the age of 4 before going on to receive the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award (writing, arranging), U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award (drum major), and Coca-Cola's Fine Arts Award (performance), and achieving principal chair (trombone) in the DeKalb Youth Symphony Orchestra. At the University of Georgia, Nick studied guitar with Drs. John Sutherland and Phil Snyder, piano with Dr. Ivan Frazier, Jazz Improvisation with Steve Dancz, composition, and comparative literature. He also played in the Basketball Band scholarship program, Redcoat Marching Band, and Trombone Choir, along with his solo efforts on the Athens scene. As a performing & recording artist, Nick has worked with GRAMMY-winning musicians Mace Hibbard (Derek Trucks Band), Ike Stubblefield (Marvin Gaye, Al Green), and Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band), in addition to international talents like Sonny Emory, Sr., Francine Reed (Lyle Lovett, Shawn Mullins), Jimmy King (Bruno Mars), Mikey Pauker, Mudcat, Will Scruggs (Natalie Cole), Kevn Kinney (Drivin' N Cryin'), D.J. Burel (Bootsy Collins), Fred Vigdor (Average White Band), Devon Allman, and Nigerian sensation Nneka Obata. Nick's musical theatre credits include playing guitar in Joseph (2 runs), Hair, Grease, and Horizon Theatre's 2015 critically acclaimed production of Avenue Q with music director Renée Clark. He also engineered the Music Junkies podcast produced by Shawn Williams (WNNX 99.1 FM aka 99X/Q100) from 2006-2007, working closely with artists like Juliana Finch and Joshua Radin. Non-musical artistic ventures have included appearing in multiple scenes of Warner Bros. We Are Marshall and various Indie films. Nick Edelstein is endorsed by Holland Guitars and is a member of NARAS (The Recording Academy, GRAMMYs®).
