Originally from Toronto, Canada, where he was part of Rent Boys Inc. and, together with his brother Simon White (11), photographed touring British new wave bands. He ended up in London, England in 1983 where he was recruited by fellow ex-Torontonian Dave Howard to be a part of the legendary Dave Howard Singers. He left the group in 1986 and joined Island Records as a Press Officer.
