Available for download from Bandcamp in a variety of file formats. Also exists as a limited edition of 111 physical copies with handmade 12" cover, 16-page 8" booklet, "fake" 12" vinyl and download code. The concept of "clinamen" derives from Lucretius's "On the Nature of the Universe", and describes the swerve of the atoms from their original straight course. Such deviation generates collisions, and allows changes in the relationship between elements. By using the metaphor of clinamen, the album narrates the process of inventing by diverting from any usual methodology, thus encountering unpredictable solutions. The music combines different commissioned sound works together with field recordings from various Mediterranean cities, and the unique timbre of Gabriele Mitelli's trumpet. 1 - Samples from “The seven sisters indoor market” (Klearjos Papanicolaou, Marios Kleftakis, 2016). 2 - Samples from “Orfeo” (Domenico Brancale, 2015), and “Copernicus’s hours” (Suppiej & Zanato 2014). 3 - Field recordings from Cagliari (Da dove sto chiamando? festival, 2014). 4 - Field recordings from Palermo (Dimora OZ art residency, 2014), samples from “Hercules’s return” (Suppiej & Zanato 2014).
