Nikos Kefaloyannis has graduated from the University of Salford in 1997 with a degree in Popular Music and Recording. Even before his graduation he was working as a sound engineer in the NorthWest of the UK, mainly in live sound reinforcement applications but also gradually in recording sessions as a freelance sound engineer. Since his comeback to Crete, GR in 1997 he has worked in several professional recording studios as the house sound engineer having carried out a large number of record productions mainly on traditional Cretan music. Concurrently, he has been working as a freelancer in recordings of a broad repertoire ranging from pop/rock bands to choirs and classical ensembles. He has collaborated with artists such as Ross Daily, George Xylouris(solo, Xylouris Ensemble, Xylouris/White), Psarantonis, Hainides, Stelios Petrakis, Locomondo, Oktava, Trifono, Daulute, as a recording/ mixing engineer. He has also worked as a FOH mixing engineer for some of the above artists plus many other such as Eleni Tsalingopoulou, Leonidas Balafas, Last Drive, the Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the Prefecture of Heraklion, ASONieta String Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, ASON Symphony Orchestra, Miltos Logiadis, Christos Zermbinos. Nikos has also carried out technical plans and construction supervision, for the audio equipment in professional recording studios in Crete, based either in analog recording and mixing technology, or fully digital. He is a fluent user of all the popular Digital Audio Workstation Interfaces such as ProTools, Logic Pro, Steinberg Cubase & Nuendo, Ableton Live, Harrison MixBus, and also a certified user of the recent digital mixing consoles Pro series by Midas, SD by DiGiCo, and Eclipse by Innovason. He is working as a Laboratory Collaborator at the department of the Music Technology & Acoustics Engineering of the TEI of Crete from the founding of the department in September 1999 till now, having undertaken teaching of 9 laboratory and 2 theoretical modules. He has taken part as a sound engineer in 4 research programs of the TEI of Crete plus 1 of the Ionian University. He has done sound designing and sound recording for theater, movies and documentaries. He is also, a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Acoustic Ecology.
