Band,
Alternative
Grunge rock/garage punk band formed in 1988 in Brighton, UK, by Jack Sargeant (vocals), Caspar Williams (guitar) and Dan Palmer (2) (drums), the band's name being a partial tribute to Texan psych rockers Bubble Puppy. The classic early lineup was completed by J. Edward Nuttall, the first in a string of bass players. When drummer Palmer left in 1991, then-bassist Andrew Clare took on the additional task of writing drum programmes for the band. With second guitarist Mike Shreeve on board for the last phase of their career, Nitro Puppy achieved a punchier, more accomplished sound, arguably at the expense of their early erratic charm. The band split sometime in the early 1990s.
