No Dial Tone, the half Norwegian, half American duo who is on the rise like the midnight sun over Scandinavia. Their deep and nordic tribal sound is both fresh and unique, but has the influence of the great house masters that have guided the two over the course of their dance music career. Referenced by Mixmag in 2012 as the ‘Bjørk meets Matthew Herbert neo-boompty house‘ the work that is currently in progress from these two ladies is substantially going to make a mark for the house, non-house lover. In 2012 the two were warmly welcomed to the eclectic family of artists on Classic Music Company by label chiefs Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter. It was their poetic ‘About You feat. Djamila’ EP that gained the attention of like minded house individuals from around the globe, receiving top reviews from dance music institutions like Mixmag, DjMag, and airplay from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Included were remixes from Mic Newman and Tom Ellis, which can be found on ITH (Defected in the House) “Defected presents the closing party Ibiza 2012” compilation. Contributed to their success on Classic, No Dial Tone was also hand picked by Matt Tolfrey to be featured on Leftroom/Left’d ‘Year End’ compilation showcasing the upcoming artists of 2012. Both these ladies discovered their passion for house music in the mid-90s. When the two met in Los Angeles in 1999, they use to go to warehouse parties and clubs around L.A., San Diego, and up to San Francisco. It was djs like Mark Farina, Dj Sneak, Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Heather, Fred Everything, Justin Martin, and Frankie Knuckles (to name just a few) that really inspired the girls to keep on dancing and eventually start djing themselves. Then the two moved into production in 2010 and collaborated together with their good friend, and renowned house producer, JT Donaldson on their "Love EP," released on Lithuanian based label, Eleflight Records. Alongside this, their first solo releases, "Moontribe EP," on Cimelde Records, and “I Really Want This EP,” on London based Pins and Needles, came out in 2011 and obtained much positive support from names like M.A.N.D.Y., Marco Carola, Gabriel Ananda, and Kruse & Nürnberg. The two dancers, turned djs, turned producers, now reside in Oslo, Norway and are combining and mastering the electronic elements that they love. From their dj gigs to live performances, which include visual arts, dance, and live vocals, their sound is evolving into one they can call their own. No Dial Tone is also the creators behind LIPSTICK, Oslo's infamous club concept since 2006, which takes club-goers on a journey through the universe and back again from their selections of deep/funky/vocal/minimal/house. Look for their follow-up release ‘Standing Still’ on Classic Music Company out in Spring 2013 featuring remixes from Matthew Herbert. Alongside this, their remix of ‘After All feat. Mikey V & Mark Faicol,’ soon out on Seasons Recordings, and their deep remix project in the works together with one of their long time favorite producers Lil Mark.
