The liner notes indicate that "Kaulana Na Pua" was written by Eleanor Keho‘ohiwaokalani Prendergast. However, it is likely that Eleanor Prendergast held the copyright to the song and was the daughter of the actual lyricist, Ellen Kekoaahiwaikalani Wright Prendergast. Noelani Kanoho Mahoe was in part responsible for the restoration of this sovereignty song to prominence when she and Ka‘upena Wong performed it in 1964 on the campus of the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. The information from these comments comes from "Hawaiian Music & Musicians An Encyclopedic History," 2012. Eleanor Prendergast remains in the credits, because that is what is on the LP liner notes, and to have the correct name of the lyricist with the PAN Ellen Wright Prendergast and then Eleanor Prendergast as an ANV would be fusing two people into one.
