A.k.a. Omari Joshua Sexton OJ's Beat Factory
OJ Sexton is a record producer, keyboardist, lyricist, filmmaker, comedian, voice-over artist, and entrepreneur from Chicago, Illinois. He was born and raised on the city's far south side in the Roseland neighborhood and also has lived in the south suburbs including South Holland and Riverdale. He started making music in 2009 using GarageBand on his Apple laptop leased to him by his middle school. In 2013, he transitioned to more professional software and has been making groundbreaking music ever since. He used to release music under a variety of names including YBP, Bits & Pieces, Soul Cafe, Mother's Children, Da Cool Kids, Big City Life, LIGHT OF MINDS, and Dave Danders. Now, he only releases music under one name: OJ's Beat Factory. In 2017, he released his major-label debut album "The Original Beat Collection, Vol. 1" as well as its follow-up (Vol. 2). Also that year he collaborated with artists Ryan O'Toole, Hunter Kennedy, and Amina and "Coolout" Chris Hawkins of Urbanized Music. His music can be described as a blend of multiple genres and styles, but OJ categorizes it under his self-created New Groove genre. Aside from his collaborative works, his music is mostly instrumental.
