A.k.a. Odilio Luis Esteban Urfé González
Urfé was a member of an outstanding family of Cuban musicians. He played piano, flute, clarinet, violin, double bass, percussion and was also a composer. (Madruga, Cuba, 18 Sept. 1921 - 6 Jun. 1988) Son of José Urfe Urfé also founded the Instituto de Investigaciones Folklóricas (Institute of Cuban Folkloric Research) -- later Seminario de Música Popular -- and after his death, Centro de Información y Documentación Musical de Cuba. As Founder-conductor of the Charanga Nacional de Conciertos, he delivered numerous courses and lectures in Cuba and in Europe and the United States. He published different articles on Cuban music in magazines and newspapers.
