Defunct American thrash metal band formed in 1997 by Ron Rinehart, a former Dark Angel vocalist, who converted to Christianity after the dissolution of the band in 1992. Other members included lead guitarist/ band co-founder Blake Nelson (formerly in Deceiver, Desire and Captain Black), bassist Matthew Joy and drummer Jason Vander Pal. Oil has released one EP, one studio album and one live album. In July 2004, Oil announced that they were to disband. The group undertook one last show on 14 August alongside Recon, East West, Trauma and Terrestrial Harvest at The Lighthouse in Long Beach, California.
