Olga studied fine arts at the Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, USA and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Her main influences are Mark Rothko and, on the earlier stages of her career, Egon Schiele and François-Auguste-René Rodin. In the 1980s, Gorokhova had a three-year long romantic affair with Petr Mamonov. Some of his best songs, such as «Муха – источник заразы», «Отдай мои вещи», and «Вчера ты дала мне» were dedicated to Olga and inspired by their relationship. The affectionate names муравей (ant) for Petr and муха, мухочка (little fly) for Olga became one of the sources of inspiration for Звуки МУ name. Olga also were in close contact with other prominent figures of Soviet music and art scene, including Boris Grebenschikov, Viktor Tsoi, Artemy Troitsky, Zhanna Aguzarova and Natalya Vetlitskaya. Later she was married to a Belgian composer and music promoter Patrick de Clerck.
