A.k.a. Ollie Hoskins, Rochester Neal, Bill Davis, Quincy Billops, Nelson Lesure The Dixie Nightingales The Nightingales (3)
Ollie & The Nightingales began as a gospel group called the Gospel Writer Juniors. After recording for the Pepper label, they changed their name to the Dixie Nightingles, and recorded material for Nashboro and Stax Records gospel subsidiary Chalice; before being convinced to sing secular R&B, and changing their name to Ollie & The Nightingales. (Group member Willie Neal left when they made the switch from gospel to R&B; and was replaced by former The Premiers (2) and The Mad Lads member Quincy Billops)
