DMA – Saxophone Om Srivastava is a passionate saxophone and clarinet teacher. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in saxophone performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studies with Dr. James Bunte. As an active performer of wind ensembles, Om has had the privilege to be a member of prestigious groups invited to perform in three national conventions for wind bands: the College Band Director's National Association Conference in 2011 and 2013 (at the Universities of Washington and North Carolina, Greensboro) and the American Bandmaster's Association Convention in Indianapolis in 2012. Originally from Kokomo, Indiana, Om made his orchestral debut at the age of 18, performing the first movement of Pierre-Max Dubois' Concerto for Alto Saxophone with the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra in 2007 as a winner of their concerto competition. He is also a two-time winner of the Kokomo Park Band's concerto competition in which he performed with the group in 2007 and 2011. Previously, Om earned his Bachelor's Degree in saxophone performance at Ball State University where he was a recipient of the Brian Minor saxophone scholarship and studied under Dr. George Wolfe. During his time at Ball State he was named winner of the Undergraduate concerto competition and was a featured soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra. In the summers of 2008, 2009, and 2011 he was a guest performer at the prestigious Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York. Additionally, Om was an active performer in the university's premiere wind and jazz ensembles with his explorations in the jazz idiom culminating in a tour with the jazz band in China which included performances for audiences upwards of 4,000 people at venues in Beijing, Xian, and Chengdu. Om is tenor saxophonist with the Promethean Quartet. The premiere saxophone quartet at CCM comprised of graduate students and alumni. The group regularly performs in the local and greater Cincinnati area and has been featured performers with the CCM Wind Orchestra, performing Philip Glass's Concerto for Saxophone Quartet. Recently, the group was named 2013 finalists and invited to perform live in the Coleman National Chamber Music Competition, capping off a tour which included performances and masterclass at schools and universities in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Colorado, and California. In the summer of 2013, the group released their debut album Through Adam's Fall. This year, the quartet were performers at the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial conference at the University of Illinois, performing a world premiere transcription of Percy Aldridge Grainger's seminal band work, Linconshire Posy as arranged for saxophone quartet.
