Band, 1969-1979 AT, Vienna
Rock and Pop
Formed 1969 by Hannes Tesar (keys, voc), Helmut Polkorab (bass, voc), Alfi Kellermann (dr,voc) and Herbert Marek (guit, voc), probably as Austria's first dialect rock band . After winning the "Talente 70" contest, they released their first 7" "Mit'n Schmäh". Until 1976 they made a couple of 7" singles, drifting from their initial psychedelic garage rock into pop rock. In 1976, Tesar sacked all the other band members, retained the band name and started to produce inoffensive pop songs with English lyrics. 'Yellow Kangooroo' was a minor hit in Austria but after their last failed effort to gain international attention, Time Machine in 1978, the band faded into oblivion.
