A.k.a. Henriette Marie Louise Burgart

French actress born September 4, 1894 in Oran, Algeria, dead on Christmas day 1991 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. She composed her alias from the name of her birth town and from another locality, Mazis, near Maghnia. Her encounter with Marcel Pagnol in 1923 marked a turning point in her career: he offered her the role of Fanny in his Trilogie Marseillaise. She was his mistress from 1925 to 1938 and the mother of Jean-Pierre Burgart.
