One of the best orchestras in Panama was on October 11, which was integrated with a selection of musicians from our armed institute. The 11 de Octubre orchestra was financed by the National Guard and in its early years it was destined for charitable functions. The director of this orchestra was Captain Víctor M. Paz, who in the fifties directed, with his brother Vitín, the orchestra of the Paz Brothers. The first foreign artist who recorded with October 11 was the restless Anacober Daniel Santos. Daniel recorded a full-length album with songs that today are valuable pieces for record collectors. Even, he himself intervened in the arrangements. The 11 de Octubre orchestra performed in Cuba, Venezuela and other countries of the Caribbean basin. He recorded another LP titled "Soberanía" where they sing Felipe Carrasco and the other vocalists of the orchestra. They imposed a musical style and one of their record successes was "Palomita Titibú". The National Guard had other musical groups as the group The Return and the Second Battalion that also reached popularity.
