Cuban orchestra, formed in late 1930's in Havana, disbanded in the 1970's. Cuban orquestra of charanga style, founded at the end of the decade of 1930 founded by the musician Regino Frontela Fraga, who had previously been in the orchestra of Tomás Corman Vidal and in that of Valerio Moreira. The name is due to a movie of the time tulada, "Broadway Melody of 40". One of the most popular song is “Me voy pa Morón”. The founders of the Orquesta Melodías del 40 were: Jose Herrera (Rosquilli), guitarist, composer and singer, Dagoberto Jiménez, flautist, René Martínez, timbalero, Miguel Ángel Colombo, bassist, Miguel Barbón (Brindis), first violin, Herminio Ramos, Second violin and René Álvarez, singer. Later they perform in the Orquesta Melodías of 40 Arsenio Rodríguez and Antonio Arcaño to constitute the trilogy of "The Big Three" where the rhythmic styles guaranteed the success of the companies that contracted them. The group had a daily program on the radio station "Radio Salas" in which they received no remuneration, but announced on the station the activities and promotions.
