He was born in 1511 and died in Norwich in 1585. He spent most of his life in Norwich where he was a 'singing man' in the Cathedral choir. His music spans the years before and after the reformation. He is best known for his setting of the Lamentations, possibly intended for domestic rather than liturgical use.
