Dawn Adams, Tim Bartels, Daryl Branford, Erik Cirelli, Shawn Schweiger, Frank Spadafora, Shellie Spadafora, Mike Speranzo, David Welsh Out of the Blue features the powerful, bluesy voice of Frank Spadafora, complemented by his lovely sister Shelly and the incredibly soulful wail of classically-trained Dawn Adams. Their three voices together weave an uplifting, emotional force that can move mountains. The driving backbone of the band is drummer Tim Bartels whose thunderous style is offset by the avant-garde percussion of Daryl Branford, creating dynamic and danceable polyrhythms with the monodic bass playing of Mike Speranzo. These guys can move just about any staid, left-footed listener to a fevered, almost ritualistic, primal dance. Rhythm guitarist Shawn Schweiger has a cutting approach that builds upon the foundation and locks in with the astonishing keyboards of David Welsh, opening up new dimensions and possibilities for the improvisational guitar leads of Eric Cirelli and Spadafora.
