Palat is a metal group formed in 1987 in Tallinn, Estonia with the unchanged line-up to this day: Andri Hõbemägi (vocals, guitar), Alo Puustak (guitar), Tanel Trööp (bass, backing vocals) and Margus Tohver (drums). The name of the band comes from the short story Ward No. 6 by Anton Chekhov with Palat being a direct translation from Ward. Being one of the first thrash metal bands in the country, the quartet was most active through years 1988 - 1992, touring in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark. They reached also wider audience with the video for the cover song Linda broadcasted in 1990 on Estonian National Television (today available on YouTube) and transformed during these years from pure thrash metal to incorporate the elements of funk and rap. In recent years, Palat has performed a couple occasional gigs in their hometown. Their 2017 debut album The First...At Last was initially recorded over two sessions in 1990 and 1992 and later remastered in 2017. The First...At Last was released both for digital download / streaming as well as on vinyl with a limited issue.
