Pape Siriman Kanoutè was born in Senegal to an ancient family of Mandinga griots, the owners of the spoken culture of West Africa. He studied saxophone at the National Conservatory of Music of Dakar. After he graduated he played in the Senegalese National Orchestra for about 10 years. (in EUCD 1804)
