Played straight heavy metal drums in the school band Vital Force in Sweden, Iron Maiden covers a.o. same years songs came out and own material, later founder of Sorcery with other founding members; his 3rd cousin Fredrik Nygren who united with Ola Malmström, Magnus Karlsson-Mård and Paul Johansson in a group then called Acid Queen, and thus Sorcery was born, heavily inspired by Mercyful Fate, Kreator & Deathrow a.o. (though Sorcery existed in the imagination of Patrik already in 1985 inspired by Celtic Frost a.o.); their second demo would have been named Rivendell as a theme with 3 Dark Angel type of music songs (those written by Patrik like the song Halloween on their first demo), the band however wanted to join the new grindmetal scene, Patrik and Fredrik left the band due to differences in music and all agreed that Sorcery kept their name; so he's not on the album since they changed genres in 1989 though he seems to be on the frontcover... =)>>> (fullbearded man) So later Patrik L Johansson founded Rivendell playing more technometal/fusion drums with highpitch singer Conny Åström, bass player Petter Eriksson from Higher Ground and Peter Sjöberg who later on changed genre to growl vocalbands and became Peter Lake in Theory in Practice...(PL first heard of Mekong Delta from Patrik having all their albums and knowing some of the songs on drums, so they jammed some MD as well as playing Yngwie's instrumental style early on, later PL laid some solos on MD records...but early 90's they strived to be Swedens best techno metal band, at least in rehearsals they were, nowadays that style is heard in Mastodon and Anima Morte songs)...before their record deal they (as a trio: Patrik with Peter & keyboardist/bass player Matthias from TIP) used to have jam sessions with classical influenced music and fusion as Mahavishnu, Confessor a.o. and rehearsals in the Sorcery/Rivendell place with own songs in that genre, much in the same way as Patrik's favorite band Lamb of God started inspired by Confessor early 90's and as LOG later on circa 1999 He shares the same grandancestors in the 5th generation on his mother's side with composer Bo Linde who studied under an old favorite composer Lars-Erik Larsson, and was a friend of Hans Eklund from the same county; and just like Bo Linde he don't follow trends but likes music with a deeper meaning He also has named the local Viking society where he lives Fafner, and made english translations for his mother's local history society in the neighbouring village around which he also works with genealogy as an Ancestor Detector. Favorite TV-show (since no more good old american series seems to happen anymore) is Black Adder's sidekick as host in Time Team and the coolest fullbearded (like himself) ZZ Top-style men on TV, though a pescatorian...in Duck Dynasty.
