French songwriter, producer, publisher, manager and company executive. Father of Julien Banes. Paul Banes started in the music business as a disc-jockey in England in the early sixties. He was then accountant at Immediate Records. Appointed to the firm's US office in 1969, he scoured New York clubs, traveled the States with Humble Pie, and finally reached Paris where he met Frédéric Leibovitz in Pathé Marconi studios and started a double career in France and in UK.. In parallel to a songwriting activity throughout the 1970s, he founded Panache (2) in 1973 (that became Island-Panache in 1985), representing many British and American catalogs, including Island Music. In 1989, he created Stradavaria Songs and OTT-Panache. Finally in 1994, he created Editions Levallois with his son Julien. From London he runs, Pete Waterman’s publishing company All Boys Music, as well as the French subsiduary Tous Les Garçons. Also worth mentioning is his friendship with Murray Head, whom works he has published and accompanied since 1976.
