Born in Sheffield, Paul Bower became popular by running a punk fanzine called "Gunrubber" together with Adi Newton (later guru of Clock DVA). In 1977 he founded 2.3 the first punk band in Sheffield, and also the first Sheffield group to sign a contract. He played an important role in the history of The Human League by introducing them to Fast Records, and arranging their first gig.
