Artist Paul Francis born in 1940 lived and worked in St Ives temporarily in the early 60's, before moving to Cornwall in 1970. He was an original founder of the London Film-maker's Co-op, contributor to IT (International Times) and member of 'Tom Fool's Theatre'. He received some commissions to paint portraits of musicians (from photographs), including Georgie Fame and P.J. Proby and painted a series of portraits. The portrait of Otis Redding, on wood panel, was bought by Stax for their Memphis studios. He continued to work for Elektra, producing flyers and advertisements for their artists, including Tom Paxton, the Incredible String Band, and The Doors. He also designed some 'compilation' record covers.
