A.k.a. Paul Stone
At the age of 11 and not being satisfied with being an accomplished ‘air drummer’ Paul knew the next step was to find a way to nurture his inner sense of reality and perhaps turn an air drummer into something a lot louder and cooler. It was soon after this milestone that Paul found his real niche in life...being a drummer playing real drums in a band! Many jams and bands later Paul landed himself a place a Brunel University College studying Contemporary Music and Technology. Soon after leaving he teamed up with the acclaimed producer/engineer and guitarist Richard Evans (Peter Gabriel) where he gained valuable insight into the art of leaving the chops behind and focusing on becoming more of a disciplined team player...one who can make his mark but not necessarily play all over it. Being fortunate enough to play and record for many accomplished artists and producers over the years (see credits) that focus has increased tenfold and today one of Paul’s ultimate goals is to hopefully inspire people enough to ‘air drum’ to a performance of his own. Style Paul’s playing style can best be described as a tasteful, consistent, powerful main served up with an assortment of loose but tight grooves with added simplistic complicated flurries. Finished off with a refreshing sorbet of diversity, delicacy, feel and creativity. With the ability to learn fast and with the song always in mind, Paul’s drumming style enables him to not only cement the no nonsense grooves that suit most styles of music, but his experience and versatility enables him to adapt quickly and accordingly to all genres and to add the fire and flare to those genres if and when it’s needed. Whether it’s Pop or Prog Rock, Dance, Electronica or hip-hop. Whether it needs power, sensitivity, complexity or simplicity. Whether it’s the Bull & Gate or Wembley Stadium, a demo or a major release. The only thing that matters and remains consistent throughout his playing is his passion, conviction, professionalism and attention to detail.
