Instrument Cello Paul Virgilio was born in 1991 and grew up in Pleasant Valley, New York. He started playing the cello was he was ten years old and currently studies at Drake University. Member of the Orchestra since 2010 Most memorable experience with the Orchestra My most memorable experience would have to be my very first rehearsal. We began with Dvorak's Carnival Overture -- it starts with one heck of a bang! Up until that day, I had only ever worked in student groups. I was caught completely off guard! The whole orchestra just lit up -- there was so much unity, clarity, and just downright speed. I felt a thrill like none other, and I haven't lost it since. How I got started playing my instrument When I was in elementary school, my classmates and I were given a sheet with instruments on it and asked to pick two that we would want to learn. The cello was actually my second choice -- my first was the French horn! I wound up being given a cello instead ... probably for the best. Favorite composer It changes all the time! Although, I never get tired of Brahms. Favorite solo piece A classic: Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G major Hobbies I enjoy making jokes, spending time with good friends, and napping. Other than classical music _____ is on my iPod Jazz
