Composer of Classical
Czech composer (21 June 1899, Brno, presently Czechia – 17 October 1944, Auschwitz, presently Poland) of modern classical music. He is an exponent of Leoš Janáček´s compositional school. In his compositions he used also elements of folk music and jazz. Although his output was not large, he is notable particularly for his song cycles and three string quartets, as well as for having composed the opera Šarlatán (Charlatan). He was killed during the Holocaust, in the concentration camp of Osvětim (Auschwitz).
