Pavel Jurkovic (18th of August 1933 Old Poddvorov - 4. February 2015 in Prague) was a Czech musician, singer, composer, teacher and popularizer of folk songs. His relationship to music was influenced by the folk music tradition of the native Podluzi. In 1957 he became a member of the Prague Madrigalists. From 1965 to 1967 he studied postgraduate in Salzburg with Carl Orff at the Orff Institute for Music Education Pedagogy. Jurkovic founded the Czech adaptation of the Orff Schulwerk teaching approach for schools. Pavel Jurkovic has authored or co-authored numerous textbooks and professional publications.
