Pavonine is a Texas-based dark ambient / soundscape project using freesound, found sound, electronic voice phenomenon, VLF recordings, and actual field recordings. The project name comes from the alchemical term regarding the stage when there is a sudden rush of iridescence [pavoninus is Latin for peacock]. The alchemist enters into the inner experience of the astral world, seen as shifting patterns of colour, and continues the journey within the self leaving the external world behind. Each track uses a large spectrum of recordings, all of which when brought together create the sound as a whole like the varying design of a peacock feather. This is not a sound for bright days, but quiet, dark evenings and headphones.
