Penny Lane started out in the early 90s in New Jersey. After being featured in the "Rock On the Rise" section of Metal Edge Magazine in 1992, they achieved cult status in the glam underground. In the early days the band looked just like 1986-era Poison and sounded just like Pretty Boy Floyd. After breaking up, Ray C, the bassist, relocated to Hollywood, where he got hooked up with Pretty Boy Floyd members Steve Summers and Keri Kelli. After releasing an anthology of the demos they had recorded back in New Jersey, Ray got together with Steve and Keri and recorded a second Penny Lane cd. After that the project went dormant, as all members of the band were focused on other musical pursuits.
